Ecology is the science relating people to their environment. An ecologically nuanced design approach allows for constant innovation and progression in the way building occupants experience and capitalize on their specific environment. Every building serves different needs and is presented with differing challenges to mitigate and opportunities to exploit; therefore, every building design will be uniquely tailored to the interests, conditions, and preferences of the owner.
A unique Entbed deign will incorporate energy efficient design principles based on climate zone, building orientaton, and topography. By utilizing methods such as vegetated roofs and west facing walls, interior thermally constant concrete walls, and retaining walls creating habitable areas below adjacent grade we are able to design homes with little or no active heating or cooling required.
The occupant specific design features could range from subterranean media rooms, attached greenhouse rooms, outdoor kitchen and pool areas, graywater systems, to mycologically inoculated landscaping, or countless other possibilities dependent on preferences or proposed use.
